Webinar: Just and Effective Restoration: Guidance and Case Studies
11th September 2025
Thursday 11 September, 10am
As Europe scales up ecosystem restoration efforts under the EU Nature Restoration Regulation and Target 2 of the Global Biodiversity Framework, ensuring inclusive and effective stakeholder engagement is crucial for their successful implementation. While restoration has often prioritised ecological outcomes people are also integral to landscapes.
In 2024, BirdLife International brought together a Stakeholder Engagement Taskforce under the Convening for Restoration project, with funding from the Endangered Landscapes and Seascapes Programme (ELSP). This webinar will highlight key insights from newly developed guidance on the main barriers to equitable engagement. It also explores critical opportunities and practical steps that restoration practitioners and policymakers can take to foster meaningful participation of diverse stakeholders in restoration initiatives. Real-world case studies will be presented to illustrate how these approaches have been successfully applied in the European context.
