Transformative Change for a Just and Sustainable World: Learning from the IPBES Assessment

Register Now

Transformative change for a just and sustainable world is urgent and necessary. The IPBES Assessment of transformative change suggests it is also possible and that we all, literally, can play a role. Based on evidence garnered from more than 7000 research contributions, 400 case studies, 700 visions of change, and 3000 environmental justice movements, we build on past understandings of transformative change, distinguish between transformations and transitions, and show how incremental changes can be transformative. Among the more exciting findings of the assessment are its elaborations of strategies and actions for transformative change that more recent analyses link to power and capacities for change.

Join us as Arun Agrawal, co-lead of the assessment, will discuss its recommendations and prospects for a just and sustainable world.

This talk is part of CCI’s In Conversation series which aims to underline CCI’s potential as a place for debate and convening, where pioneering and provocative ideas are introduced, taken forward and shared within and beyond the CCI and conservation community.
