Background

Xiaoting Hou-Jones has more than 14 years of experiences conducting policy and action research and implementing projects to tackle interlinked societal challenges of biodiversity loss, climate change and inequality in developing countries. She has strong project management, evidence synthesis and facilitation skills. She has worked and travelled to 58 countries and worked on a diversity of sustainable development issues ranging from sustainable financing, industry ecology and supply chain management to political economy and managing trade-offs in land-use decisions. She has a deep understanding of political economy issues and the practical challenges in mainstreaming nature into development decisions building on various roles she held in local government, NGOs, business consulting companies in China, her rich experiences in facilitating multi-stakeholder dialogue on pressing global issues in the forest sector and her experiences in working with local, national governments and intergovernmental organisations in improving policies and policy implementation to help nature and people thrive together.
